Overview
The National Measurement Institute (NMI) has been working with the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) to revise the international standard for Automatic instruments for weighing road vehicles in motion and measuring axle loads. The OIML R 134 standard is the international Recommendation for the requirements and testing procedures used to evaluate these instruments.
As part of this process, we are seeking input on the second working Draft (2 WD) of the revision of OIML R 134: Automatic instruments for weighing road vehicles in motion and measuring axle loads. The insight you provide will form part of a consolidated Australian submission on the 2WD of the revision of OIML R 134. Comments you provide will allow NMI to better represent Australian industry and facilitate international trade in the development of this international Recommendation.

The Department is conducting a consultation as part of the revision and development of an international standard – OIML R 134: Automatic instruments for weighing road vehicles in motion and measuring axle loads.
The Department is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles outlined in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), which regulates how we may collect, use, disclose and store personal information.
The Department will collect from this consultation your personal information (including your name, organisation, email and phone number) so that we are able to contact you, if needed to seek clarification regarding any comments you provide on the 2WD of OIML R 134.
NMI intends to publically release the contents of submissions. The contents of submissions will be published on the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources Consultation Hub webpage. Contents of submissions will be de-identified where possible. However, if you would like your submission to be treated as confidential please indicate this in the ‘confidential submission’ section of the stakeholder comments form.
Your personal information will be accessed by departmental staff who are involved with the drafting of the consolidated Australian submission on the second working Draft of OIML R 134.
Your information will not be used or disclosed without your consent, except as set out above or where authorised or required by law. Any request made under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) for a submission marked ‘confidential’ to be made available will be determined in accordance with freedom of information laws.
