Overview

Consultation has now closed on the focus areas for the National Energy Workforce Strategy (NEWS), and the Department has reviewed all submissions received. Submissions have been published in line with privacy considerations.

The National Energy Workforce Strategy, when finalised, will provide a foundational strategy for the government to direct clean energy workforce reforms for 2025 2030. The NEWS will build on existing workforce resources to identify current and future skills gaps and help plan for energy workforce needs.

Consultation

Public consultation was held from 1 August to 13 September 2024 inviting feedback on key focus areas which included: attraction and retention, data availability, improved coordination across all levels of government and industry. The Department received 78 submissions in total which complemented the 26 targeted 1:1 consultations, 18 roundtable consultations and engagement across 3 working groups and committees.
