We are seeking submissions and comments on minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and labelling requirements for:

  • televisions
  • computer monitors
  • digital signage displays.

Televisions and computer monitors are subject to MEPS and energy rating labelling requirements under the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program. E3 is considering whether to align the Australian and New Zealand requirements with international standards.

It is also considering whether to extend energy efficiency labelling to include digital signage displays. This would align with new European Union requirements for electronic displays.

The E3 Program

The Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program integrates energy efficiency standards and labelling requirements for equipment and appliances. This cross-jurisdictional program is run by:

  • the Australian Government
  • Australian state and territory governments
  • the New Zealand Government.

The Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Act 2012 underpins the E3 Program.
