We are seeking feedback on potential changes to the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule 2015.
The changes would remake the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Regulations 2011 as sections of the Rule.
Some minor drafting changes will ensure the amendments are fit for purpose. The Regulations exclude some projects from participating in the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).
The proposed changes to streamline the ERF scheme’s regulatory framework would:
- remove the need for the Regulations
- maintain important protections against potential adverse environmental, social and economic impacts.
Following this consultation, the Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction may make the proposed amendments to the Rule.
