Overview
The Future Gas Infrastructure Investment Framework sets out the Australian Government’s principles for supporting critical gas infrastructure. Under the framework, the government may invest in critical infrastructure projects that align with the priorities of the National Gas Infrastructure Plan (NGIP).
We are seeking non-binding expressions of interest for government support under the investment framework. We are also seeking market insights from other relevant projects.
Submissions are open to mid-stream gas infrastructure projects that:
- are under development
- are aligned with 2021 NGIP priority actions.
The invitation for expressions for interest document provides further information.
Project streams
You can submit your project under one of these streams:
- Early stage development stream (expression of interest)
- Advanced development stream (expression of interest)
- Market insight (request for information).
You are welcome to submit multiple projects. However, please do not submit a single project under more than one stream.
Each stream has different requirements and uses a separate submission form.
Early stage development stream
This stream is for projects that:
- are at concept stage or have not yet completed front end engineering design
- need government support to move towards final investment decision.
Your submission form and supporting documents should show how your project aligns with NGIP priority actions and investment framework principles.
Advanced development stream
This stream is for projects that:
- have completed (or are currently completing) front end engineering design
- have a robust business case and pathway towards financial investment decision
- need government support to move towards final investment decision.
Your submission form and supporting documents should show how your project aligns with NGIP priority actions and investment framework principles.
Market insight (request for information)
This stream is for projects that are:
- at any stage of development
- aligned with NGIP priority actions
- not seeking support from the government to reach final investment decision.
Under this stream, project proponents provide information that will help the government to gain a better market view when considering expressions of interest.
How we will use your information
All submissions are confidential. We will not publish your submission.
We will use the information you provide to:
- understand if government support is needed to achieve the NGIP priority actions
- identify any critical gas infrastructure projects the government can help to reach final investment decision. Where a specific need for project support is identified, the government may consider direct support to these projects and may not run a further open process
- inform other government actions, including future NGIPs, and implementation of the investment framework.
