Public consultation has closed.
We prepared a draft report which assesses Japan’s proposal for market access to Australia for commercially produced fresh melons. The draft report proposes that fresh melon fruit from Japan can be imported, on the condition that a range of biosecurity import requirements are met.
We released the draft report on 17 October 2024 for public consultation, which has now closed.
What happens next
We are now considering all comments received on the draft report. Your feedback is helping to inform our final report.
We expect to release the final report in mid 2025.
