Public consultation on this topic has now closed.
We sought feedback from the public about the issues paper for natural casings. This paper considers the effectiveness of the proposed alternative to country freedom that was put to the department by industry, noting that this closely reflects the current recommendations of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
We released the issues paper on 23 November 2024, for a 105 day public consultation period, which has now closed.
A consultation webinar was held on 12 February 2025. Interested stakeholders attended the virtual event and submitted their questions for response.

We are now considering all comments received on the issues paper from Have Your Say and the webinar. Your feedback is helping to inform the draft report.
