How you had your say
We considered matters raised by stakeholders on penning requirements in registered establishments and pregnancy related requirements.
We prepared discussion papers which presented proposed changes to the ASEL to improve the practically and clarity of requirements while maintaining or improving animal health and welfare.
We undertook targeted and public consultation with industry and internal and external stakeholders, including site visits, and invited feedback from all stakeholders.
What happens next
Your feedback will help us ensure the standards reflect the most up to date information and science and remain fit for purpose.
Public consultation on the ASEL 4.0 review will be held in 3 tranches across 2025 and 2026 due to the breadth of matters being reviewed.
We will consider all feedback when finalising the updated ASEL (Version 4.0).
We will publish a thematic summary of the feedback received during public consultation and publish the submissions where permission has been provided.
Feedback on other matters relating to the ASEL can be sent at any time to ASELreview@aff.gov.au. Emerging or more complex matters will be added to a register and considered in future updates.
