Sydney Water is investigating an alternative alignment for one section of the river release pipeline proposed as part of its Greater Parramatta and Olympic Peninsula (GPOP) Water Cycle Management Project. The section is proposed to run between Silverwater and Meadowbank, near Silverwater Park, George Kendall Riverside Park, Meadowbank Park and the Parramatta River foreshore at Memorial Park.
RPS is engaged by Sydney Water to carry out the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for the proposed amendment, including this survey.
The GPOP Water Cycle Management Project is a Sydney Water project to improve how water and wastewater are managed across the area. The Environmental Impact Statement was publicly exhibited in early 2026, and the project is being assessed by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
One part of the proposed project is the river release pipeline, which would carry advanced treated water from the new Water Resource Recovery Facility in Camellia-Rosehill to the Parramatta River. Sydney Water is now investigating an alternative alignment for one section of this pipeline. This survey relates to that proposed amendment.
Sydney Water is proposing to build the amended section underground. Temporary construction areas would be needed in parts of Silverwater Park, George Kendall Riverside Park and Meadowbank Park. No decision has been made. The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure will consider the amendment, including the SIA this survey informs.

This survey asks how you use the parks, river, foreshore, paths and streets in this area, what you value about them, and what would be important to you if construction goes ahead. You do not need to use the parks to take part; the survey is open to anyone with a connection to the area.
There are no right or wrong answers.
Survey length: approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Eligibility: you must be 18 years or older. If you are under 18, an adult such as a parent or carer is welcome to take part instead and share their own views.
