For over 30 years I have watched Australia go around in circles with reports and studies on whether we should have our own space program.

In the meantime most equivalent nations have just gone ahead and done it.

It wasn't even a question for them. They just did it and today they benefit enormously in economic, security, educational, technology, manufacturing, communications, and environmental terms.

Whether Australia should have its own domestic space program is not a question, unless you're any other country in the world asking "why doesn't Australia have one?"

It makes perfect sense to them that we should have a space program in this country. It should be perfectly obvious to us as well.

We were one of the first countries in the world to launch our own satellite in 1967. We have world class facilities and industries here plus the expertise to take advantage of a coordinated, supported national space agency.

It's time to join the international space community that is waiting for Australia to become their partners as well as competitors.

Time for talk is over. Time for action is now.

The Australian National Space Agency is the ANSA!
