We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (opens in a new window) (Cth). The Privacy Act regulates how we may collect, use, disclose and store personal information. We also hold personal information in accordance with the Archives Act 1983 (opens in a new window) (Cth).

We use technology by Converlens Pty Ltd to provide this consultation service and website. Our contractual arrangements require Converlens to comply with the Privacy Act and store data securely in Australia.

What personal information will be collected

Personal information means information or an opinion about an individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not it is true or recorded in material form.

By submitting a response to this consultation [or survey, expression of interest, etc], you consent to the department collecting your personal information [and sensitive information] provided in your response. This may include:

  • your name, address, email and telephone number

  • your opinions about the Issues Consultation Report and how the review may impact you.

How we will use and disclose your personal information

The department will use any personal information provided in your submission to:

  • support the Independent Review Panel to deliver their review of the Deed

  • assess the potential impact or outcomes of changes to the Deed on impacted stakeholders

  • inform policy development that may be undertaken following the review

  • identify relevant stakeholders and their industry

  • contact you about your submission if required, including for further information, feedback or to conduct a survey either by us or our representative

  • inform you about the outcomes of this consultation process and/or other matters that we consider may be relevant to you.

The personal information provided in your submission may be disclosed to the Independent Review Panel, employees of Australian Government agencies, external consultants or contractors, state and territory agencies and persons, and relevant Ministers and their staff for the purpose of:

  • Providing an update on the progress of the review

  • The Independent Review Panel’s final report, including required policy or technical analysis

  • Informing policy development that may be undertaken following the review

and for related purposes.

We may also disclose your personal information where authorised or required by law.
