Co-benefit models for value beyond techno-economic; broader governance models for diverse FN needs; regulatory reform to promote decentralised energy for FN; promote asset ownership & revenue streams; agreement-making and tenure innovation
3. How should government and industry support First Nations people to own and manage renewable energy assets for long-term sustainability and community benefit?
State derisks FN-led projects; develop value model legible to finance, pension funds, insurance etc; Review ICE Canadian governance ownership agreement-making models. Proper resourcing for PBCs.
4. What strategies are most likely to improve how quality information, data and resources concerning the clean energy transformation is developed and disseminated to First Nations communities?
Capacity building and resourcing FN electricity intermediaries to develop microgrids, aggregation, community-owned retailers etc. Fund FN-led mapping, and access to maps eg maps on land tenure, rezoning, proposed projects etc
